Coneflowers, aka echinacea, are tough perennials in the daisy family. With its season-long colorful display of blooms, coneflower is the perfect perennial for sunny locations. The plant blooms from early to late summer and is drought-, deer-, heat-, humidity- and poor soil-tolerant.

Coneflowers prefer to be planted in full sun, but can also grow well under partial shade. It prefers to be planted in a location with moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Provide ample water during the first year after transplanting. Once coneflowers are established (2-3 years), they are quite drought-resistant. Hardiness zones range from 4-9.
