First Editions® Forsythia Spring Fling
Care Instructions
Light: Plant your Forsythia in a location that receives at least 6 hours of full sun each day.
Water: Water regularly during the first growing season to help establish a strong root system. Once established, Forsythia is fairly drought tolerant and only needs supplemental watering during extended periods of dry weather.
Fertilizer: Feed in early spring with a balanced, slow release fertilizer to encourage healthy growth and abundant blooms.
Pruning: Prune immediately after flowering to shape the shrub or control its size. Since Forsythia blooms on old wood, avoid heavy pruning later in the season or you may reduce next year’s flowers.
Cold Hardiness: Hardy in USDA Zones 5–8. Once established, Forsythia tolerates winter temperatures well and returns with vigorous growth each year.
